District H Championship Game Suspended to Monday Tied at One

LONGWOOD, FLA.- Already a game packed with drama, Mother Nature decided to add a little bit more as Sunday's NJCAA District H Championship game between #1 Florida SouthWestern and #3 Chipola was suspended to Monday morning with the game tied at 1 at the start of the eighth inning.

Chipola scored their run in the fourth after the Bucs failed to cover second base on an Indian stolen base attempt to allow the runner to move up to third before a single drove her in to give them a 1-0 lead.

The Bucs didn't get their first hit of the game until the fifth when Madison Johnson singled up the middle to score Paris Woods from third to tie up the game at one.

Both teams pitching staffs locked in from there as each side went down in order in the sixth and each team managed just a single baserunner in the seventh to send the game to extras knotted at one.

Just as the teams were getting set to begin the eighth inning, the lightning siren went off at the field, delaying the contest for 30 minutes before the skies opened, flooding the field and forcing the suspension of the contest to Monday at 11 AM.

The winner of the game will advance to the NJCAA National Tournament in St. George, Utah, while the loser will see their season come to an end.
