Smith begins his first season with the Bucs in 2023-2024. He comes to FSW after spending two seasons on staff with the Razorbacks and Head Coach Dave Van Horne as a Student Assistant Coach, helping the Hogs to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances as well as a trip to the College World Series in 2022.  In his two seasons on the Arkansas staff, the Razorbacks went 89-39 overall and 38-22 in SEC action.

After playing his first three years at East Tennessee State University, Smith transferred to Arkansas for his senior season in 2021 to play for the Hogs.  He made the most of that opportunity, playing in 51 games for the Razorbacks, hitting .263 with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs.  Smith came up big when the Hogs needed him the most, hitting .357 with three homers and seven RBIs to lead Arkansas to it's first SEC Tournament Championship.  In game one of the Fayetteville Super Regional, Smith put together a four RBI game to help the Hogs past North Carolina State. 

At East Tennessee State, he was a two time All-SoCon selection while posting a career batting average over .300 with 9 home runs.
