Thomas Slugs Way to FCSAA Player of the Week Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- After continuing to swing his red hot bat last week in four FSW contests, Bucs sophomore slugger Justin Thomas has been named the FCSAA Player of the Week as announced in a state release on Tuesday.

Thomas was square in the middle of the Bucs success last week, accounting for 19 runs in just four games, scoring 10 and driving in another 9 to lead FSW to a 3-1 week including a Citrus Conference series win over Santa Fe.  Tuesday against St. Petersburg he went 2-3 with a double and four runs scored in a 19-7 Bucs run rule win over the Titans.  Thursday he reached base three times and drove in three while scoring another two in a 16-10 Bucs win over Santa Fe to open their three game series.  Saturday he homered in both ends of the Bucs doubleheader with the Saints, going 4-6 with four runs scored and five RBIs overall to help FSW clinch the series victory.

On the season Thomas is hitting .367 with 11 home runs, 41 RBIs, and 25 stolen bases making him the only player in the country this season with 10 or more home runs and 20 or more stolen bases.

Thomas and the Bucs are back in action on Tuesday at Buccaneers Park in Fort Myers when they host South Florida State in a 3 PM non-conference contest.
