TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- After a big week at the plate for the #17 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, sophomore slugger Victor Figueroa has been named the FCSAA Player of the Week in a state release on Tuesday.
Figueroa hit .667 with four home runs and 13 RBIs in four FSW wins last week. He got his week started with a multi-hit effort against St. Petersburg, going 2-4 with a pair of runs scored and two driven in. Thursday to open a big three game series with Hillsborough he went 2-5, with a clutch three run go ahead home run in the 8th inning to lead the Bucs to a 7-5 win. Saturday he was at it again, clubbing a home run and driving in three in an 11-1 win over Hillsborough before leaving the yard twice and driving home four in a 10-6 game two win to complete the sweep of the Hawks.
Figueroa is leading all three Triple Crown categories in the FCSAA this season, hitting .488 with 8 home runs and 31 RBIs. He heads into Thursday's game against State College of Florida riding a 14 game hitting streak while also having driven in a run in 10 straight.
