Bucs Southpaw Signs With Cowboys

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern lefthander Alex Walsh will be trading in his swim trunks for a cowboy hat next season after the Bucs southpaw signed with Oklahoma State University on National Signing Day at Suncoast Credit Union Arena.

Walsh is in his first semester with the Bucs this fall after transferring from the University of Miami where he played his freshman season in 2023. In his short time on the Bucs staff, the 6'4 lefty has already made quite the impression. His fastball was consistently in the low 90's this fall, running up to as high as 94 on the radar gun with an offspeed mix that also showed some promise in missing opponents bats.

Last season at Miami Walsh pitched in 11 games, posting a 5.40 ERA for the Hurricanes.  His first collegiate outing came against Super Regional performer Indiana State, a scoreless frame while he also saw action against ACC powerhouses such as Wake Forest, Louisville, and Clemson.

The Cowboys have been a consistent contender in both the Big 12 and the National picture the past 10 seasons, reaching the NCAA Tournament in every year since 2013 while hosting NCAA Regionals at O'Brate Stadium in Stillwater each of the past two seasons. At Oklahoma State, Walsh will team up with former FSW righthander and 2022 Suncoast Conference Fireman of the Year Brian Holiday who is in his first season with the Cowboys this year.

Walsh is one of six Power 5 and 11 overall early signees for the Bucs this season joining Justin Thomas (Arkansas), Landon O'Donnell (Florida State), Jared Davis (Virginia Tech), Isaac Upole (Pittsburgh), Victor Figueroa (Pittsburgh), Reyn Watson (Appalachian State), Nate Earley (Appalachian State), Logan O'Leary (UNC-Charlotte), Luca Danos (Loyola Marymount), and Jahir Perez (Southeastern).
