Bucs Fireballer Set to Make Cross Town Move Next Season

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern Baseball fans won't have to go far to keep track of 2023 ace Marty Gair next season as the big righthander has signed to play at Florida Gulf Coast University for the 2023-2024 campaign.

Gair was a 2nd team All-Southern Conference pick for the Bucs this season after transferring in from UNC-Wilmington where he spent his freshman year.  He finished 3-1 in nine starts, posting a team best 1.75 ERA in 36 innings pitched.  He racked up 52 strikeouts in those 36 innings, good for a clip of 13.00 per nine innings which ranked top five in the FCSAA this season.  In his nine starts for the Bucs, Gair never allowed more than two earned runs in a game with his best effort coming against East Georgia when he went 4 2/3 innings, allowing just two hits and one earned run while striking out 12.

Gair will join an FGCU squad coming off of their best season in recent memory as the Eagles went 42-18 in 2023, spending a good chunk of the season ranked in the Top 25 of several major polls.

Gair is one of three Bucs sophomores to sign so far this offseason, joining AJ Shaver (Troy) and Yariel Diaz (Middle Georgia).
