Shaver Signs With Trojans of Troy
FORT MYERS, Fla.- After putting together the best single offensive season in program history this Spring, Florida SouthWestern sophomore AJ Shaver has signed at Troy University to continue his career next season.

Shaver put up eye-popping numbers for the Bucs this season, breaking FSW single season, and career records with a .403 batting average and 19 home runs, in his only year in Fort Myers.  He also broke the program's single season RBI record with 63, but was later topped by teammate Derek Williams to put him second all-time in that category. Along with his 19 homers, he also ripped 24 doubles which tied Jose Izarra for the single season program record.  Equally as threatening on the bases as at the plate, Shaver stole 28 bases this season making him one of just five players in the NJCAA Division I ranks to have 20 or more doubles and 20 or more stolen bases.

For his efforts, Shaver was expectedly showered with postseason awards that included Southern Conference Player of the Year, FCSAA 1st Team All-State, while also becoming the first FSW hitter in program history to earn NJCAA All-American honors when he was named a 2nd Team selection.

Shaver will join a Troy squad coming off of a 40 win campaign and their eighth trip to the NCAA Tournament this season.  The Trojans finished their 2023 season 40-22 overall and 18-12 in Sun Belt action which was good enough to earn them an at-large to the Tuscaloosa Regional where they beat #24 Boston College in their opening contest for their first Tournament win since 2018.

Shaver is one of three Bucs sophomores to sign so far this offseason, joining Marty Gair (Florida Gulf Coast) and Yariel Diaz (Middle Georgia).
