Lucio Named FCSAA Player of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- After leading the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers to three wins last week with his big bat, Bucs sophomore Christian Lucio has been named the FCSAA Player of the Week as announced Tuesday by the state.

Lucio hit .571 for the Bucs in four games last week, smacking three doubles, two home runs, and driving in nine.  Monday against South Florida State he was 4-5, missing the cycle by just a triple as he finished with a double, a home run, and four RBIs while also swiping a pair of bases.  Wednesday against St. Petersburg he went 1-2 and walked twice and again stole two bases.  Saturday in the series clincher against the Titans, he came up huge, going 3-3 with two doubles, a home run, and four RBIs in a 5-2 win for FSW.

Lucio is the first FSW position player to be named the state's Player of the Week since Victor Florentino did it in April of 2019.

Lucio and the Bucs are back in action on Wednesday at home against #16 State College of Florida at 3 PM in a game that will break a first place tie in the Suncoast Conference standings between the Bucs and the Manatees.
