Florentino Earns Second Player of the Week Nod

TALLAHASSEE, FLA.- Recording multiple hits in all three games for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers last week, sophomore Victor Florentino has been named the FCSAA/Region VIII Player of the Week for the second time this month as announced by the state on Tuesday.

Florentino came up big in crunch time for the Bucs last week, collecting two hits in each of FSW's three games, hitting .545 in 11 at bats.  Wednesday against Hillsborough, Florentino had a pair of hits, both doubles, and two RBI's for the Bucs, he one upped himself on Friday against the Hawks, again collecting two hits, this time a triple and a home run in the ninth and tenth inning respectively, and four RBI's in a come from behind win for FSW.  One day later he was at it again, this time going 2 for 4 with a double and three stolen bases in an FSW victory over Polk State. 

It marks the second time this season that he was named the FCSAA Player of the Week after earning the honors April 2nd as well.  Florentino is hitting .295 on the season with four home runs, 29 RBI's, and 16 stolen bases. 

Florentino and the Bucs will look to wrap up their first Suncoast Conference Championship in FSW history on Wednesday when they travel to Winter Haven to take on Polk State in a 6 PM first pitch.
