Bucs Back in Top 10 in NJCAA Poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- A big series win over Suncoast Conference rival Polk State has vaulted the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers back into the top 10 of the NJCAA National Rankings as Tuesday the Bucs moved up two spots to #9 for the first time this season.

The Bucs pushed their 2019 record to 28-8 with a pair of wins last week, setting the FSW record with 28 wins in a season with 16 regular season games still left to play.  Behind a lights out pitching performance from Ryan Gusto in their series opener against Polk State, the Bucs won 5-0, but were shutdown themselves in game two to the tune of a 5-1 defeat.  They took an early lead in the rubber game on Friday before hanging on late to take the series two games to one.

The week five poll is led for the second straight week by Wabash Valley and Walters State at the top, shifting places into the top five were McLennan, Northwest Florida State, and Central Florida, giving the FCSAA three of the top nine teams in the country this week, no other region had more than one.

FSW is back in action on Wednesday as they take on Miami Dade on the road in non-conference action.  The Bucs return home on Saturday to get a big three game set going with State College of Florida at City of Palms Park in Fort Myers.  First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM.
