Carl McAloose was hired in February, 2014 to restart the athletics department at Florida SouthWestern State College.  McAloose is known as a great judge of talent and personnel in college athletics and for his vision and ability to develop a plan to attain that vision.

As Director of Athletics at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), McAloose was responsible for building the FGCU program from its inception in 2000 to a successful NCAA D-I program.

At FGCU, McAloose was responsible for building over $30 million in athletic facilities, and hiring a staff who built programs which brought unprecedented success. In it’s first year as an NCAA D-II program FGCU had six teams represented at the NCAA D-II championships. During the second season, ten of eleven teams competed in the NCAA D-II championships. During the 2007-08 season, FGCU had several teams advance in the NCAA tournament with two teams’ ranked No. 1.

The success continued as FGCU won seven conference championships in five sports in its first 18 months in Division I. The Eagles won 80% of their contests, achieved 3.2 GPA or higher during each year and contributed annually over 7,500 hours of community service.

McAloose successfully moved FGCU to NCAA D-I status and to the A-Sun Conference in the fall 2007, the fastest university to ever accomplish this. He assisted in the fundraising, design and construction efforts for the 4,500-seat Alico Arena, baseball/softball stadium, a baseball/softball/soccer clubhouse, a soccer stadium and 12 lighted tennis courts.  In 2008 McAloose was named the FGCU Staff Member of the Year.  In 2010, FGCU initiated the “Carl McAloose Spirit Award” for the top female and male athlete, which is given annually.

McAloose has over 30 years of experience in the business.  Prior to joining FGCU, McAloose was the Commissioner of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, where he increased the conference reserve 500 percent and the budget by 50 percent through the incorporation of corporate partnerships. McAloose also enhanced the GLVC’s championships including the implementation of a neutral site men’s and women’s basketball championship which attracted over 21,000 people annually.

He is founder and CEO of Athletic Staffing and Consultants and also has held the positions of Director of Athletics at Clayton State University, Associate Commissioner of the Big South Conference, Associate AD at Coastal Carolina, Assistant AD and Tennis Coach at West Chester University, and Assistant AD at Guilford College and Frostburg State University.

McAloose was very active at the NCAA level, serving on the NCAA D-II Management Council, NCAA Legislative Committee, NCAA Amateur Clearinghouse Committee, D-II Men’s Basketball Committee and Tournament Director for the NCAA D-II Elite Eight (four years).

McAloose is the proud father of Krista, Savannah and Hunter.

He currently resides in Fort Myers, Fla.
