Two Time National Champ Fontes Signs With Idaho
FORT MYERS, Fla.- After winning a pair of NJCAA National Championships the past two seasons with the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, sophomore outside hitter Madu Fontes will be trading the sun and sand of Florida for the snow and mountains of the Gem State after signing her National Letter of Intent to play for the University of Idaho next season.

Fontes played in 21 matches over the past two seasons for the Bucs, averaging 2.18 kills per set and hitting .276 during her FSW career. She had a pair of 10 kill efforts this season as a sophomore for the National Champs, her first coming in a 3-0 sweep of Florida State College at Jacksonville before doing it again on sophomore night in Suncoast Credit Union Arena in a 3-0 win over Indian River.

In her two seasons in Fort Myers, Fontes helped lead the Bucs to a 58-2 overall record, a pair of Conference Championships, two FCSAA State Championships, a pair of NJCAA Southeast District Championships, and back to back NJCAA National Championships.

Fontes signed Friday alongside FSW teammates Roberta Purashaj (Oregon) and Alondra Alarcon (UNLV), giving the Bucs four NCAA Division I signees from their 2024 sophomore class after Izzy Collier (Marshall) signed during the early signing period.
