Alarcon Swings Way to FCSAA Player of the Week Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Leading the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers to a perfect 4-0 week last week, sophomore outside hitter Alondra Alarcon has been rewarded for her efforts by being named the FCSAA Player of the Week for week three.

Alarcon continued her torrid start to the season, averaging 4.7 kills and 2.9 digs per set last week for the undefeated Bucs while hitting .443 on the outside. She had two huge matches in the Bucs two biggest games of the week, banging home 15 kills and hitting .433 in a Citrus Conference sweep over Hillsborough to open league play before hammering down a career high 21 kills and pulling up 13 digs against #15 Monroe in her fourth double-double of the season.

Alarcon currently sits near the top of a pair of NJCAA Division I leaderboards, checking in 4th Nationally in kills per set at 4.47 and also 4th in hitting percentage at .398.  Her 415 career kills already sit 5th all-time in FSW program history just 12 games into her sophomore campaign.

This is Alarcon's first FCSAA Player of the Week honor in her Buccaneer career.

She was joined this week on the Player of the Week pedestal by teammate Roberta Purashaj who was named the FCSAA Setter of the Week.

Alarcon and the Bucs are back in action on Wednesday at home when they host #18 Daytona State in a key Citrus Conference matchup beginning at 6:30 PM in Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
