  • Bowers Earns Second Straight CoSIDA Academic All-American® Award

    Owen Bowers continues to etch her name in the history books as one year after becoming Florida SouthWestern’s first CoSIDA Academic All-American® in school history, she was once again named to the Academic All-American® Team in 2020-2021 making her the first junior college student-athlete in history to earn the award in back to back years. 
  • O'Donnell Named CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year

    After leading her team to a National Championship and earning First Team NJCAA All-American honors, Florida SouthWestern sophomore pitcher Alyssa O’Donnell has earned the pinnacle award of collegiate athletics as Monday she was named the 2020-2021 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year, marking her the top female student-athlete in the nation among College Division participants.

    The Florida SouthWestern State Athletic Department brought home an NJCAA high three awards in the 2YSIDA Graphics & Publications Contest for the 2020-2021 athletic year, claiming 1st place accolades for their team schedule poster and game notes while earning 2nd place in the gameday graphics category.

    After two seasons in the Sunshine State, Florida SouthWestern right-hander Emily Perrin is headed home to Georgia with her 2021 NJCAA National Championship in tow after signing her National Letter of Intent with the Kennesaw State Owls last week.

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers had four members of their 2021 NJCAA National Championship squad honored on Friday as Alyssa O’Donnell, Rebeca Laudino, Janessa Plummer, and Feline Poot were all tabbed NFCA All-Americans marking the second straight season the Bucs had four players named to the All-American squad.

    On the heels of leading her team to the 2021 NJCAA National Championship, Florida SouthWestern State pitcher Alyssa O’Donnell has been named the 2021 Schutt Sports/NFCA NJCAA Division I Pitcher of the Year.
  • Bucs Win 2021 NJCAA National Championship

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers are bringing the NJCAA National Championship trophy back to Fort Myers! The Bucs scored four runs in the 7th inning to break a 1-1 tie against the Grayson Vikings Saturday afternoon in Yuma, Arizona, going onto win the school's first National Championship with a 5-1 victory to finish the tournament a perfect 5-0.

    Less than 24 hours removed from a thrilling 14-13 come from behind win over Seminole State, the #3 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers played another nailbiter Thursday afternoon against #2 Butler at the NJCAA National Tournament in Yuma, Arizona, hanging on late behind some outstanding defensive plays to down the Grizzlies 2-1 to advance to the Final Four of the tournament.

    Florida SouthWestern State Head Coach Robert Iamurri has seen a lot of wins in his six years at the helm for the Buccaneers.  Wednesday, he said, may have been the best of them all as his Bucs battled back from a three run 7th inning deficit to win 14-13 in a walk off against #6 Seminole State to advance to the semifinal round of the winner's bracket at the NJCAA National Tournament in Yuma, Arizona.

    The #3 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers put on an offensive clinic Tuesday afternoon in the first round of the NJCAA National Tournament as they took on the Central Alabama Trojans, exploding for 13 runs on 14 hits in route to a 13-3 run rule victory to move onto the winner's bracket quarterfinals on Wednesday. 
  • FSW Set For NJCAA National Tournament

    After a cross country trip to the desert of the American Southwest, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers are just 24 hours away from their 2021 NJCAA National Tournament opener against Central Alabama.  The Bucs will open play at the tournament Tuesday at 4 PM (PST) at the PAAC Complex in Yuma, Arizona when they take on the Trojans in the first round. 
  • Bucs Draw #3 Seed For Nationals, Will Take On Central Alabama in Opener

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers will be the #3 seed at the NJCAA National Tournament which begins next Tuesday, May 25th in Yuma, Arizona.  The Bucs drew the tournament’s 3 seed as announced by the National Office Thursday and will take on #14 seed Central Alabama at 4:00 PM (MST) in their tournament opener.

    After dominating their opponents throughout the season, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers dominated the spots on the FCSAA All-State Team announced this week as seven Bucs were named All-State including six on the All-State 1st Team. 
  • Bucs Ranked 3rd in Latest NJCAA Poll

    Despite beating three straight top 15 ranked teams to punch their ticket to the NJCAA National Tournament, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers dropped two spots in this week’s NJCAA National Poll to #3 after a loss to defending National Champs Chipola in the State Tournament Semifinals. 
  • FSW Wins South Atlantic B District Championship, Headed to Nationals

    Two years ago, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers lost a 2-1 extra innings heartbreaker in the District H Championship game at Soldier's Creek Park in Longwood, Florida, falling one game short of their fourth straight trip to the NJCAA National Tournament.  Monday, playing for the South Atlantic B District Title on the same field, they made sure that didn't happen again, jumping out to an early 5-0 lead against #12 Indian River and continued to put the pressure on the Pioneers all game, eventually finishing off a 10-3 win to claim the championship and punch their ticket to the National Tournament in Yuma, Arizona. 
  • Bucs Win Battle of the High Seas Against Pirates

    It was a matchup made for a movie script Sunday morning at Soldier's Creek Park as the Buccaneers of Florida SouthWestern battled the Pirates of Pensacola State in a battle of the high seas in an elimination game at the FCSAA State Tournament. Jumping out to an early 4-0 lead, it was the Bucs surviving and advancing with a 7-3 win to push them through to the Final Four round of the tournament Sunday night where they will take on #5 Central Florida in another elimination contest.

    In a battle between two of the top five teams in the country, the #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers charged past the #5 Central Florida Patriots 8-3 Sunday night in the FCSAA State Tournament, getting homers from Taylor Jensen and Feline Poot and a complete game in the circle from Alyssa O'Donnell to advance to the NJCAA District H Championship Monday against #12 Indian River.

    In a rivalry as old as time; ok, as old as the Bucs program, the #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were stunned by the Chipola Indians 6-3 in the FCSAA State Tournament semifinals Saturday.  
  • Bucs Unload On Sharks In State Tournament Opener

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers exploded for 19 runs in just four offensive innings of work Friday morning in their FCSAA State Tournament opener against Miami Dade.  After falling behind 2-0 in the 1st inning, the Bucs ripped off five in the bottom of the 1st, three more in the 3rd, and plated 11 in the 4th for a 19-5 win to advance to the winner's bracket semifinal on Saturday.
  • FSW Proves Home of Champions In and Out of the Classroom

    Friday, 38 Florida SouthWestern State student-athletes from five different sports, six different countries, and countless different backgrounds, walked across the stage in Suncoast Credit Union Arena to receive their diplomas during the Bucs commencement ceremony.  One thing they all had in common; each left Fort Myers as champions, having all won at least one Conference Championship during their time at FSW.

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers remained the #1 team in the land for a fifth straight week on Monday, picking up a pair of wins over #10 Indian River to keep their pole position in the Week 13 NJCAA National Rankings.
