Jones to Remain a Buc, Headed to Charleston Southern

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern big man Reis Jones will remain a Buccaneer next season, but he will be trading in his Purple and Aqua for Navy and Gold after signing with Charleston Southern University on National Signing Day at Suncoast Credit Union Arena.

Jones played in all 31 games, starting 10 for FSW this season, averaging 5.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocked shots per game.  His 48 blocked shots this season were the second most in a single season in FSW history while his 8 blocks against Palm Beach in January set a new program single game record.  He had three straight double figure scoring efforts for the Bucs in Citrus Conference action, putting up 13 against Hillsborough on a perfect 5-5 from the floor followed by a 14 point performance against Polk State and 11 against St. Petersburg, all FSW wins. In two of those contests he recorded double-doubles, pairing his 14 points against Polk with a career high 12 rebounds and pulling down 11 boards to go along with his 11 points against St. Pete in a career best 35 minutes on the floor.

He will join a Charleston Southern squad coming off of a 10-20 campaign and a 6-10 mark in Big South action where they finished tied for 5th place. 

Jones is one of five Bucs to sign at the NCAA Division I level this season joining teammates Dezdrick Lindsay (Oregon), Jaehshon Thomas (Radford), AJ Hopkins (UT-Martin), and Karmani Gregory (USC-Upstate).
