TAMPA, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern State sophomore Terry Roberts took matters into his own hands Monday night on the road in Tampa, scoring a career high 35 points to lead his 13th ranked Buccaneers over the Hillsborough Hawks 84-78 in non-conference action.

The Hawks caught the Bucs somewhat by surprise early on as 13-2 FSW found themselves tied at 20 with the 3-11 Hawks midway through the first half of action.  Hillsborough pushed ahead, taking a four point lead with 3:30 remaining in the half before three consecutive three pointers for the Bucs put them back in front 36-33 at the end of one half of play.

FSW scored the first points of the second half, but it was all Hillsborough for the next three minutes as the Hawks went on an 8-0 run to retake the lead.  A transition three from Jaden Campbell put the Bucs back in front and a step back triple from Terry Roberts had FSW back up nine, 63-54 with 9:00 remaining.  Just when it looked like the Bucs were going to run away with it, here came the Hawks. Hillsborough held FSW without a point for the next 4:45, turning a nine point Buccaneer lead into a one point lead of their own at 64-63 with 4:15 to go.  Roberts wasn't going to let his Bucs go down on this night though, knifing through the lane for two to put FSW in front and connecting on a three with 2:37 to go to put the Bucs back up five. With the Bucs clinging to a three point lead with 1:36 remaining, Roberts put the Bucs on his back again, scoring six points in the final minute to not only top the 30 point mark for the first time in his career, but also to ice away an 84-78 victory for FSW.

Roberts led FSW with a career high 35 points including 22 in the second half.  Jonathan Dos Anjos notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds while CJ Lane chipped in 11 for the Bucs, all in the second half.

FSW improves to 14-2 on the year with the victory and sweeps their season series with Hillsborough while the Hawks drop to 3-12 in 2021.

The 13th ranked Bucs will be on the road for another non-conference contest on Wednesday as they go to New Port Richey to take on Pasco-Hernando in a 7:30 PM tip.
