Bucs OT Loss Drops Them Seven Spots in NJCAA Rankings

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers took a tumble in the NJCAA Rankings on Monday, falling seven spots to #17 after just their second loss of the season Saturday in overtime to now #23 Indian River.

The Bucs had won eight straight, in convincing fashion, by an average of 28 points per game, but that wasn't enough for the committee to lay the hammer to them following a four point overtime loss on the road to 11-2 Indian River.  FSW is 11-2 overall on the year and leads the Southern Conference with a 5-1 league mark at the midway point.

The top four teams in the week seven poll, South Plains, Coffeyville, Mineral Area, and Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa have still yet to lose this season, entering this week with a combined 47-0 record.  Odessa, who lost in overtime themselves to #1 South Plains Saturday, falls from #3 to #5.  The Men's Basketball poll, which has seen much more volatility than any of the other NJCAA polls this season saw a cornucopia of movement after the Top 15 this week.  FSW and Cowley were each docked seven spots for their losses this week while Vincennes and Georgia Highlands each shot up six spots to come in at #18 and #19 behind the Bucs, despite the Trailblazers sitting with four losses on the year.

The Bucs will look to get another winning streak started this week as they host Miami Dade in Suncoast Credit Union Arena on Wednesday before traveling to Bradenton to wrap up the second round of conference play on Saturday where they will take on State College of Florida.
