Rincones to Join Ragin' Cajuns For 2022

FORT MYERS, Fla.- One of the top players in Florida SouthWestern State history has found a home for his final two years of competition as shortstop Warnner Rincones has signed with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and will join the Ragin' Cajuns for the 2022 season.

Rincones is a two-time, 1st Team All-Conference selection for the Bucs, earning the award during the 2019 and 2021 seasons.  He will leave FSW as the Bucs all-time leader in hits, runs, and stolen bases, having already broken all of those marks during his sophomore season in Fort Myers.  In two and a half seasons with the Bucs, Rincones has hit .323 with 17 doubles and 74 RBIs while going 76 for 89 in stolen base attempts.  This season he has posted career highs in batting average (.335), hits (68), runs (48), doubles (10), and stolen bases (36).

He will join a tradition rich Ragin' Cajun program that has made 16 appearances in the NCAA Tournament.  This season UL is having, for their standards, a pedestrian year, checking in at 23-20 overall and 9-9 in Sun Belt Conference action with two series left to go.

Rincones and the Bucs won their second straight Suncoast Conference Championship in 2021, going 42-14 overall and 23-7 in conference play during the regular season.

The Bucs will be back in action on Wednesday at the FCSAA State Tournament when they take on Indian River in the first game of the week at 10 AM from Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland.

Rincones is one of seven Bucs to have signed their National Letters of Intent to play at the next level this season, joining Antonio Knowles (Florida), Luis Tuero (Arizona), Carter Cunningham (East Carolina), Marc Davis (USF), Daniel Maldonado (Cumberlands), and Matt Whitney (McPherson).
