Davis Commits to USF
FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern State righthander Marc Davis has committed to the University of South Florida.  
 
A three year player for the Bucs, Davis has helped FSW to a pair of Suncoast Conference Championships, pitching in 43 games which ranks second all time and striking out 138 hitters which is also second in FSW history.  He is 6-4 with three saves in his FSW career notching a 3.05 career ERA in 85 2/3 pitched while averaging 14.50 strikeouts per nine. 
 
This season Davis has worked as both a starter and a reliever, pitching in 16 games and drawing five starts.  He is 4-1 with a pair of saves in 34 2/3 innings pitched and has struck out an unbelievable 63 opposing hitters at a clip of 16.36 per nine which is second best in the NJCAA. 
 
He will join a perennially strong USF program that has gone through an up and down 2021 spring.  The Bulls are 16-20 overall and 6-8 in American Conference play  with three series left to go. 
 
For the second time in his collegiate career, Davis will likely have a decision to make during the summer whether to turn pro, or remain in the college ranks.  He was a 38th round draft pick of the Chicago Cubs after his freshman season at FSW and is expected to have his name called much higher in this July's draft.  
 
FSW finished the regular season 42-14 while winning the Suncoast Conference title going away with a 23-7 mark.  
 
The Bucs will begin their postseason run on Wednesday in Lakeland when they take on Indian River in the first round of the FCSAA State Tournament at Joker Marchant Stadium in a 10 AM start. 
 
Davis is one of seven Bucs to have signed their National Letters of Intent to play at the next level this season, a list that includes Antonio Knowles (Florida), Luis Tuero (Arizona), Carter Cunningham (East Carolina), Warnner Rincones (Louisiana-Lafayette), Matt Whitney (McPherson), and Daniel Maldonado (Cumberlands).
