Bucs Shine In the Classroom This Fall

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Not only did the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers student-athletes star on the court and in the field this Fall, but they were equally as good in the classroom where for the first time in Bucs Athletics history all five FSW teams posted a 3.0 or better team GPA while the Bucs 90 student-athletes combined for a school record 3.26 GPA.

The Bucs National Championship Volleyball team posted the highest GPA in the department with a 3.53 mark with 13 of 14 players earning a 3.0 or higher GPA.  Women's Basketball was not far behind with a program record 3.51 team GPA with 9 of 11 players topping the 3.0 mark.  Overall, 76 of 90 (84%) of the Bucs student-athletes finished with a 3.0 or better GPA with 17, including at least two from each team, netting perfect 4.0 GPAs.

"I couldn't possibly be more proud of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff for the work that they put in to achieve this accomplishment this Fall" FSW Director of Athletics George Sanders said.  "This speaks volumes to the type of student-athletes we have here at FSW who are able to balance a rigorous academic regiment as well as perform on game day when the lights turn."

The Bucs Spring semester is now underway with Bucs Men's and Women's Basketball getting back into Citrus Conference play this weekend when they host Hillsborough at 12:00 and 2:00 while the FSW Baseball and Softball teams begin their 2024 seasons the weekend of January 26th on the road in tournament play.
