TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- For the third straight week, Florida SouthWestern sophomore setter Irina Makinen has been named the FCSAA Setter of the Week as announced by the State on Tuesday.
Makinen dished out 10.7 assists per set for the Bucs in a pair of Citrus Conference victories last week. She opened the week with 47 assists in a 3-1 road win over Hillsborough, marking the fourth straight contest she collected 45 or more helpers. Saturday she helped the Bucs breeze to a 3-0 home win over Santa Fe, filling up the stat sheet with 28 assists, 3 aces, 2 kills, and a pair of blocks as FSW ran their winning streak to 15.
Makinen has now won the FCSAA Setter of the Week award five times this year and six times in her Buccaneer career.
Makinen and the Bucs have their second half bye date on Wednesday before returning to the court for their final road game of the year on Saturday against Polk State.
