TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- After setting two new career highs in a pair of FSW wins last week, Florida SouthWestern freshman Letizia Okonofua has earned FCSAA Player of the Week honors for week seven of the 2025 season.
Okonofua didn't start the Bucs showdown with #2 Miami Dade Wednesday, but she would make her impact felt later in the game as she came off the FSW bench to record a career high 15 kills in three sets of work to bring the Bucs from behind and will them to a 3-1 victory against the Sharks. Saturday she did draw the starting nod and once again piled up the numbers, hammering down a new career high 22 kills while hitting .356 as the Bucs downed #18 Daytona State in five. On the week she averaged 4.63 kills per set while hitting .296 for the Bucs.
Okonofua currently ranks 4th in the Citrus Conference with 3.73 kills per set during conference action.
It is the first career Player of the Week award for Okonofua who was joined on the week six pedestal by Irina Makinen who picked up her second straight FCSAA Setter of the Week award.
Okonofua and the Bucs are back in action on Wednesday when they make the trip up I-75 to begin the second half of Citrus Conference play on the road at Hillsborough.
