Bucs Earn Fourth Straight USMC/AVCA Team Academic AwardJuly 14, 2023The Florida SouthWestern State Volleyball team was not only successful on the court this season, winning the 2022 NJCAA National Championship, but they weren’t too shabby in the classroom either as the Bucs put together a 3.48 Team GPA to earn their fourth consecutive USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award.

Koehler & Lawrenz Earn CSC Academic All-American HonorsJune 30, 2023After winning an NJCAA National Championship on the court this Fall, Florida SouthWestern Volleyball players Barbara Koehler and Julia Lawrenz earned the ultimate off the court honor on Monday as the pair was named 2023 CSC Academic All-Americans, an honor that goes to just 11 two-year student-athletes across all sports nationwide. Furthermore, the duo was the only pair of teammates of any program in the country to receive the honors.

Nation High 10 Bucs Named CSC Academic All-DistrictJune 02, 2023For the first time in program history the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) put together an Academic All-District Team for the At-Large College Division, and in it’s first year, 10 different Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneer student-athletes earned their way onto the list. The 10 Bucs female student-athletes to earn the honors marked the most of any school in the two-year ranks.

FSW Assistant Gets First Collegiate Head Coaching Position with CougarsMarch 01, 2023Florida SouthWestern Assistant Volleyball Coach Megan Besecker will have a new title next season, and it won’t be with the Bucs, as Tuesday Besecker was tabbed the 16th Head Coach in the storied history of Barton Community College, where she will lead her first collegiate program, while returning to the conference she competed in as a player in Kansas.

Baziquetto-Allen Earns AVCA National Coach of the Year AwardDecember 07, 2022Florida SouthWestern Head Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen earned the highest honor of any coach at the two-year level on Wednesday as the Bucs fourth year Head Coach was named the AVCA Two-Year National Coach of the Year. Baziquetto-Allen was chosen from finalists for the award from all three two-year factions (NJCAA, CCCAA, NWAC), including all three levels of the NJCAA.

Koehler Tabbed AVCA Two-Year National Player of the YearDecember 07, 2022Florida SouthWestern sophomore Barbara Koehler was named the top two-year volleyball player in the country on Wednesday as the Bucs outside hitter earned the prestigious AVCA National Player of the Year award, beating out other candidates from the NJCAA Division I, II, and III ranks, as well as players from the CCCAA and NWAC.

FSW Wins NJCAA National ChampionshipNovember 20, 2022The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers are National Champions. The Bucs secured their first National Championship in just their fourth season of competition Saturday night in West Plains, Missouri, defeating their archrivals, the Miami Dade Sharks 3-1 in the final game of the 2022 NJCAA Volleyball season. FSW's Barbara Koehler was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament while Bucs Head Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen was named the Heidi Cartisser Coach of the Tournament.

Bucs Earn Top Seed For NJCAA National TournamentNovember 10, 2022A year ago, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were nervously awaiting word on if they had received an at-large bid to the NJCAA National Tournament during the team’s watch party inside Suncoast Credit Union Arena. Thursday, joined by some of their loyal fans at their watch party, there was much less drama, as having their ticket to the tourney already punched, the Bucs simply awaited their tournament seed, which was also of little suspense as the country’s #1 team earned the #1 seed where they will take on #16 seeded Wallace State in the first round of the tournament next Thursday at 2 PM Eastern Time.

Bucs Win First FCSAA State ChampionshipNovember 06, 2022The #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers made history in more than one way on Saturday in Melbourne, not only winning the program's first FCSAA State Championship in a dominating 3-0 effort, but they did it against their arch rivals, the #7 Miami Dade Sharks, making themselves just the third team in the 53 year history of the FCSAA to knock off the Sharks in a State Championship Game.

Bucs Blast Titans, Advance to State Championship ShowdownNovember 04, 2022A season ago, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were stunned in the semifinals of the FCSAA State Tournament with a 3-2 loss to Polk State to end their dreams of the program's first State Championship. Friday, in the same position one year later in Melbourne, the Bucs weren't going to let that happen again as they jumped on the #17 Eastern Florida State Titans early and never relented, hammering the Cinderella Titans 3-0 on Eastern's home floor to advance to their second FCSAA State Championship Game in the past three seasons.

Bucs Finish Regular Season On High Note With Sweep of PolkOctober 28, 2022It was an emotional night inside of Alico Arena on Thursday as the #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers closed out the 2022 regular season with their annual Sophomore Night game against the Polk State Eagles. The tears flowing pregame for seven FSW sophomores playing their final career games in front of their home crowd were turned into motivation as the first set began as the Bucs hammered the visiting Eagles 25-6 before winning tight second and third sets to finish off the sweep and head to the postseason on a five game winning streak and a 21-1 record overall.

Bucs Sink Sharks, Clinch Third Straight Conference ChampionshipOctober 26, 2022In a matchup made for a Hollywood movie, the #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers and the #6 Miami Dade Sharks went blow for blow Tuesday night in Miami with a raucous crowd on both sides cheering on the top two teams in the Suncoast Conference. After the Sharks landed the first shot, FSW bounced back and took the second but went down once again as Miami Dade squeaked out the third. The Bucs kept fighting, dominating the fourth set to force a fifth and deciding stanza where FSW outlasted the Sharks 15-10 to take the match 3-2 and in the process clinch their third straight Suncoast Conference Championship and the #1 seed for the upcoming FCSAA State Tournament.
