Fiona Baker Named FSW Volleyball's First CoSIDA Academic All-American®

GREENWOOD, Ind.- After becoming the first player in program history to earn NJCAA All-American honors on the court in 2020, Florida SouthWestern State sophomore Fiona Baker has made program history again, as Wednesday it was announced that the Bucs setter was FSW Volleyball's first CoSIDA Academic All-American®, one of just nine female student-athletes across all sports nationwide to earn the honor.

On the court, Baker helped lead FSW to their second straight Suncoast Conference Championship and second straight Top 10 finish at the NJCAA National Tournament in 2022. She was a 2nd Team All-Conference selection for the Bucs, playing in all 30 matches and leading the team with 639 assists on the season to finish her FSW career as the program's all-time leader with 1,631 helpers. Also one of the Bucs top players on the defensive side of the net, she pulled up 221 digs in 2022 which ranked fourth on the team.

In the classroom Baker was equally as impressive, posting a 3.77 GPA as a Business Administration major over her two years at FSW.  She was a two-time Suncoast Conference and FCSAA All-Academic Team member and in 2022 was named an NJCAA All-Academic 2nd Team selection.

After graduating from FSW this Spring, Baker will now take her talents to Radford University in Virginia where she will play for the Highlanders next season.

In 2021 nearly 14,000 student-athletes across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, as well as NAIA, and two-year schools were nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® program.  The CoSIDA College Division Academic All-America® award honors the top student-athletes from two-year, Canadian and non-NCAA or NAIA colleges and universities.  Baker was one of just nine female student-athletes across all sports to earn the College Division award this year.  She was joined on the team by FSW Softball player Sterre den Duijn.

With Baker and den Duijn's selections, FSW has now boasted five CoSIDA Academic All-America® honorees in the past three years, joining Owen Bowers (2020 & 2021) and Alyssa O'Donnell (2021).
