Carr Signs at Alaska Fairbanks

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern's Johnasia Carr is going to have a little bit different wardrobe for the final two years of her academic and athletic career than she did this year for the Buccaneers as the sophomore middle hitter has signed her National Letter of Intent to play for the Nanooks of the University of Alaska Fairbanks next season.

Carr transferred to FSW this season after spending two years at Seattle University.  She played in 18 games for the Suncoast Conference Champs this season, racking up 55 kills and 27 blocks on the year.  She had her best offensive performance of the season in the FCSAA State Tournament when she put up 8 kills on 14 swings against #15 Hillsborough while her best blocking efforts came in back to back three set sweeps over #5 Miami Dade and Indian River when she notched 4 stuffs in each match.

Carr and the Bucs were 25-5 this season, spending the final seven weeks of the regular season as the #1 ranked team in the country.  FSW was a perfect 16-0 in Suncoast Conference play to win their second straight league title before going 3-1 at the NJCAA National Tournament, good for a 5th place finish.

Carr will join an Alaska squad coming off of an 18-12 campaign that included wins in their final four matches of the season.

Carr is the seventh four year signee for the Bucs this season and the 14th in the past two seasons, joining 2021 teammates Elissa Alcantara (Cincinnati), Maria Petkova (San Francisco), Riley Oglevie (Winthrop), Yunju Lee (Chicago State), Victoria Carioba (Park), and Katie Dickey (Montreat).
