FSW Closes Regular Season as Nation's Top Ranked Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers held their spot atop the NJCAA National Rankings for the seventh straight week on Monday, closing the 2021 regular season as the unanimous #1 in the National Poll released by the National Office Monday afternoon.

The Bucs were idle last week after wrapping up the regular season on an 18 game winning streak and at 21-2 overall.  FSW boasted 10 wins over the Top 20 in the regular season including four wins over Top 5 ranked foes.

The top five teams in the poll remained the same in week 10 with FSW leading the way and Blinn, Butler, Miami Dade, and Missouri State-West Plains following in behind.  Salt Lake's loss to Snow shook up the next five as New Mexico Military, Iowa Western, and Utah State-Eastern all bumped past the Bruins at #6, #7, and #8 with Salt Lake and Snow settling in at #9, and #10 respectively.  Northeastern was this week's big winners as they jumped from #16 to #13 with close wins over Trinidad State and Otero while Panola's took the biggest fall as they dropped from #12 to #16.  All four FCSAA teams in the poll held their spots with FSW at #1, Miami Dade at #4, Hillsborough at #15, and Daytona at #19.

The Bucs return to the court after a two week layoff on Friday when they host the FCSAA State Tournament at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers.  Their first test will come in the semifinals at 4:00 PM where they will take on the winner of Friday morning's Hillsborough/Polk first round matchup.
