Red Hot Bucs Remain #1 in National Poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Winners of 18 in a row to close the regular season, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers remained the #1 team in the NJCAA National Volleyball Poll released on Monday, marking the sixth straight week the Bucs topped the National Rankings.

The Bucs won their final two matches of the regular season last week, defeating Polk State 3-0 in both contests to finish off their second straight undefeated conference season and head to the playoffs at 21-2 overall.

With conference races heating up and the competition stiffening, there was lots of movement in the week nine poll with just 5 of the 20 teams holding their place from a week ago.  Two that did were FSW and Blinn who remained #1 and #2 while Butler, Miami Dade, and Missouri State-West Plains all climbing up to join the two Bucs teams in the top five.  Northeastern and Wallace State were this week's biggest risers with the Plainswomen going from unranked to #16 as they ride a nine game winning streak while Wallace jumps up four spots to #13 with an NJCAA leading 37 wins on the year.

After a busy stretch to close out the regular season, the Bucs will now have some time to sit back and enjoy their top billing as they will remain idle under November 5th when they will be the top seed for the FCSAA State Tournament in Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
