Ribeiro Earns FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Leading Florida SouthWestern to three Suncoast Conference victories last week, freshman middle Deborah Ribeiro has been named the FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week for week three of the 2021 season.

Ribeiro was a brick wall at the net for the Bucs last week to earn her first Defensive Player of the Week honors of her career.  In Tuesday's win over #2 Miami Dade she tied a school record with 10 blocks in a thrilling five set win for the Bucs.  She followed that up with 3 blocks Thursday against Indian River and wrapped up the week with 5 rejections against State College of Florida.  Ribeiro leads the state this season with 61 total blocks on the year and ranks second in blocks per set with 1.61.

The Bucs have another busy week in front of them starting tonight as they host #19 Daytona in a matchup of the final two remaining unbeatens in Suncoast Conference play before hitting the road to take on Eastern Florida Thursday and returning back to Suncoast Credit Union Arena Saturday to host #14 Hillsborough in a matinee affair.
