  • Bucs Earn Third Straight USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers matched their success on the court with their success in the classroom this year, following up their Suncoast Conference Championship and 5th place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament with their third straight USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award as one of the top academic achieving programs in the country.

    44 Florida SouthWestern student-athletes from all five teams were honored by the NJCAA, FCSAA, Suncoast and Southern Conferences for their work in the classroom this year on Monday as the group saw awards given for NJCAA All-Academic, Academic All-State, and Academic All-Conference accolades. 
  • Fiona Baker Named FSW Volleyball's First CoSIDA Academic All-American®

    After becoming the first player in program history to earn NJCAA All-American honors on the court in 2020, Florida SouthWestern State sophomore Fiona Baker has made program history again, as Wednesday it was announced that the Bucs setter was FSW Volleyball’s first CoSIDA Academic All-American®, one of just nine female student-athletes across all sports nationwide to earn the honor. 
  • All-American Baker Signs With Radford

    After leading the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers to a pair of Suncoast Conference Championships and a pair of Top 10 finishes at the NJCAA National Tournament, sophomore Fiona Baker has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Radford University the next two seasons. 
  • Besecker Joins Bucs Volleyball Staff

    Florida SouthWestern Head Volleyball Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen has competed her staff for the 2022 season as Monday she announced that one of her former players, Megan Besecker will be joining her on the bench this season as her new Assistant Coach.

    After spending two seasons winning Championships with the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, FSW sophomore Victoria Carioba will take her talents to the Show Me State next season where she will suit up for one of the teams that played for an NAIA National Championship last season, the Park University Pirates.

    Florida SouthWestern’s Johnasia Carr is going to have a little bit different wardrobe for the final two years of her academic and athletic career than she did this year for the Buccaneers as the sophomore middle hitter has signed her National Letter of Intent to play for the Nanooks of the University of Alaska Fairbanks next season.

    After spending the 2021-2022 season in the Sunshine State with the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, sophomore setter Yunju Lee will head to the Windy City next season after signing a National Letter of Intent to play at Chicago State University in 2022-2023. 
  • Bucs Captain Signs with Winthrop

    After leading the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers to a pair of Suncoast Conference Championships the past two seasons, FSW captain Riley Oglevie has signed to continue her career at the Division I level, inking with Winthrop University where she will join the Eagles for the 2022 campaign.

    Following a successful sophomore season playing for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, Elissa Alcantara will be headed to the Midwest next year after signing with the University of Cincinnati to play for the Bearcats in 2022.
  • Petkova/Ribeiro Named First Team NJCAA All-Americans

    After leading the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers to a Suncoast Conference Championship and 5th place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament last month, outside hitter Maria Petkova and middle blocker Deborah Ribeiro have been named First Team NJCAA All-Americans as announced by the National Office on Wednesday. 
  • Bucs Sweep #3 Miami Dade, Finish 5th at NJCAA National Tournament

    The #4 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers would have preferred it to come a little later in the day, but closed a record breaking 2021 season in style Saturday afternoon at the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas, defeating archrival #3 Miami Dade 3-0 to finish 5th in their second trip to the Big Dance. 
  • FSW Upended in National Tournament Quarters

    The #4 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were upended in the NJCAA National Tournament Quarterfinals on Thursday, falling 3-0 to the #5 Missouri State- West Plains Grizzlies to end the Bucs dreams of a National Championship. 
  • FSW Wins Battle of the High Seas, Downs #1 Blinn in Five at National Tournament

    It was a battle on the high seas Friday at the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas as the #4 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers took on the Buccaneers of #1 Blinn. FSW dominated the first two sets, but Blinn fought back to take the third and fourth.  There was only room for one Buccaneer in the fifth though and the Purple and Aqua came out of the battle on top as FSW took it 15-10 to take the match 3-2 and advance to the tournament's fifth place match where they will take on Suncoast Conference rival Miami Dade Saturday at 3:30 EST.

  • Bucs Earn First National Tournament Win in Program History

    The #4 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers earned their first NJCAA National Tournament win in program history Thursday afternoon in Hutchinson, Kansas, defeating the #13 Monroe Mustangs 3-0 to advance to the tournament quarterfinals for the second straight season. 
  • Bucs Punch Ticket to National Tournament; Enter as #4 Seed

    It was five sleepless nights for the Florida SouthWestern Volleyball program waiting to see if they had done enough through the course of the regular season to earn an at large bids to the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas next week.  Tonight the Bucs will sleep well as Thursday it was announced that FSW earned one of just two at larges into the tournament and will open at the championship’s #4 seed where they will take on #13 Monroe in the opening round next Thursday. 
  • Bucs Finish Fourth at State Tournament

    The #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers won their first match of the day 3-1 over Indian River at the FCSAA State Tournament Saturday at Suncoast Arena in Fort Myers, but dropped a five set heartbreaker for the second straight day, this time to #15 Hillsborough in the third place match to finish in fourth place at the annual event.

    The #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were stunned in the FCSAA State Semifinals on Friday, dropping a five set battle to Polk State to snap an 18 game win streak and end the Bucs chances at their first State Championship.  
  • League High Six Bucs Named All-Conference, Baziquetto-Allen Named Coach of the Year

    A league high six Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were named to the All-Suncoast Conference Team and Head Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen was tabbed the Coach of the Year on Thursday night at the FCSAA State Tournament banquet in Fort Myers. 
  • FSW Closes Regular Season as Nation's Top Ranked Team

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers held their spot atop the NJCAA National Rankings for the seventh straight week on Monday, closing the 2021 regular season as the unanimous #1 in the National Poll released by the National Office Monday afternoon. 
  • Petkova Takes Home Second Player of the Week Honor of 2021

    For the second time this season, Florida SouthWestern outside hitter Maria Petkova has been named the FCSAA Player of the Week as released by the state on Tuesday.  Petkova finished the final week of the regular season averaging 4.50 kills and 3.17 digs per set in a pair of FSW wins over Polk State.
  • Red Hot Bucs Remain #1 in National Poll

    Winners of 18 in a row to close the regular season, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers remained the #1 team in the NJCAA National Volleyball Poll released on Monday, marking the sixth straight week the Bucs topped the National Rankings. 
  • #1 FSW Finishes Off Undefeated Conference Season, Breaks Program Wins Record With Sweep of Polk

    In the matter of just three years, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers have gone from the new kids on the block to the undisputed top team in the Suncoast Conference as the top ranked Bucs went on the road and finished off their second consecutive undefeated conference season on Saturday, defeating Polk State 3-0 to head into the playoffs on an 18 game winning streak.

    For the second time this season, Florida SouthWestern State freshman libero Arianna Rossi has been named the FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the State on Tuesday.
  • Bucs Sophomores Finish Home Conference Careers Unbeaten

    It was an emotional night in Suncoast Credit Union Arena on Tuesday, both before the #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers game with the Polk State Eagles and during the contest.  Beforehand, the Bucs honored their eight teary eyed sophomores , who came into the game 22-0 in their careers in Suncoast Conference play, but once the ceremony was done, it was on as the Eagles gave the top ranked Bucs all they could handle, but in the end, the FSW sophs stayed unbeaten, winning a 3-0 decision to move to within one win of their second straight undefeated conference championship.

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers held their #1 National Ranking for the fifth straight week this week, winning their 15th and 16th straight games to remain the Nation’s top ranked squad in week eight.
  • Back to Back Champs! Bucs Clinch Second Straight Conference Title with Sweep of #17 Hillsborough

    For the second straight season, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers are the Suncoast Conference Champions.  The #1 ranked Bucs officially retained their crown on Thursday, sweeping #17 Hillsborough to remain unbeaten at 14-0 in conference play to sew up the title with two games to go.  The bookends were pretty for FSW on Thursday as they hammered down 17 kills in a 25-21 first set win and hit .500 with 14 kills in the third to finish the sweep off with a 25-15 victory.
