FORT MYERS, Fla.- In their first semester in program history, the Florida SouthWestern State Volleyball team has set their academic standards high, as the Buccaneers' inaugural squad achieved a 3.35 team GPA for the Fall 2019 semester, leading the way in the FSW Athletic Department and putting themselves in position for AVCA Academic honors after the Spring semester.

The Bucs earned a 3.35 GPA as a team in their first semester on campus.  11 of their 15 players recorded an individual GPA of 3.0 or higher including a pair of 4.0s from Viktoria Ivanova and Marina Alonso.  As a team, they passed all 234 hours attempted, an average of 15.6 per player.

"We stress from the start of the recruiting process about how important academics are for our program" FSW Head Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen said.  "I am extremely proud that this group bought into this principle, but even more proud that they were able to do so in-season, and with 13 of our 15 players being freshmen" she continued.

The Bucs finished their first campaign 16-8 overall and 4-2 in Suncoast Conference play, advancing to the FCSAA State Tournament where they finished 4th

Season two for FSW Volleyball will begin in August.
