Alex Soloid Hired to Complete FSW Volleyball Staff

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern State Volleyball Head Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen has announced the hiring of Alex Soloid as her Assistant Coach for the Bucs' inaugural season in 2019. 

Soloid comes to FSW with a wealth of experience both stateside as well as at the international level as both a player and a coach.  Most recently, Soloid served as an Assistant Coach at Jefferson College in Missouri and before that at Arizona Western College in Yuma, Arizona.  Soloid coached on the pro circuit for six years before his arrival in the United States, leading Club Dynamo in Russia's Super League for two seasons before taking over the San Pedro Volleyball Club in Alcantara, Spain for four years.  He helped Dynamo to a Gold Medal in the Super Cup of Russia in 2009 and collected seven other tournament medals from 2009-2011 with the club. 

Also an accomplished player, Soloid played professionally for 23 years in nine different countries.  He captured Gold Medals as a player in both the Argentinian Professional League as well as in the Cup of Russia and brought home numerous other medals while playing in Poland, Hungary, and Turkey.

Of adding Soloid to her staff, Baziquetto-Allen said "I am excited to have Alex as part of our program.  He has coached and played at the highest levels around the world and will bring a high Volleyball IQ to the table for us.  I look forward to working with Alex to put the best possibly product on the floor for all of our amazing FSW fans!"

FSW Volleyball will begin its inaugural season with a home scrimmage on Monday, August 19th in Suncoast Credit Union Arena where they will take on Ave Maria in a 6 PM first serve. The Bucs first regular season match will be on Friday, August 23rd when they travel to Ocala to take part in the Central Florida Classic where they will take on Pasco-Hernando and Florida Gateway on the opening day of the season.
