  • Bucs Volleyball Earns USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

    The Florida SouthWestern State Volleyball Team was honored for their academics once again on Wednesday as they were named to a record breaking class of the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for 2019-2020. 
  • 21 FSW Student-Athletes Earn NJCAA All-Academic Honors

    After posting the highest winning percentage in the Suncoast Conference on the court and in the field for the second straight season this year, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers showed their true STUDENT-Athlete prowess on Wednesday as a conference high 21 Bucs earned NJCAA All-Academic Team honors. 
  • FSW Volleyball, Softball, Women's Basketball Earn NJCAA Academic Team of the Year Awards

    All three Florida SouthWestern State women's athletics teams were honored by the NJCAA on Monday as the Bucs Volleyball, Softball, and Women's Basketball teams were named NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year by the organization.  
  • FSW Top 10 Moments of 2019-20; #4- Bucs Down Central in Five Set Thriller at State

    Playing with their season on the line, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers came up with one of their best performances of the year in the FCSAA State Tournament in Jacksonville, knocking off #14 Central Florida 3-2 in a thrilling five set match to advance to the tournament’s Final Four.

  • NJCAA/FCSAA Approve Return to Play Plan For 2020-2021

    After a series of one after another bad news reports regarding COVID-19 ended their 2019-2020 athletics year in March, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers got some good news on Thursday as the FCSAA Council of Presidents approved the NJCAA and the FCSAA AD’s plans to play the 2020-2021 seasons as planned, beginning in August. 
  • Suncoast Credit Union Arena Voted NJCAA's Best

    While there was no bracket play going on at the NJCAA National Tournament this spring, there were matchups being played out and coming down to the closing minutes in the T3 Bracketology Top Arena Poll. At the end, there was just one left standing and that was Suncoast Credit Union Arena, home of the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers.  The Bucs' home digs brought home the title of the NJCAA's top arena with a 59% to 41% victory over Northwest Florida State's Raider Arena in the all Florida final.

  • Hurtado Ready to Fly with Eagles of Chadron

    After a solid freshman season with the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, Lexi Hurtado is moving on to the NCAA level, signing with Nebraska's Chadron State to play for the Eagles for the next three seasons. 
  • Alonso Becomes Bucs' First Four Year Signee

    One year ago, Marina Alonso took a chance on the newly founded Florida SouthWestern State Volleyball program. Looking to transfer after her freshman year at Laredo, Alonso was searching for a new home and chose to sign with the Bucs, despite FSW having yet to play their first game in program history.  After a successful sophomore season with the Bucs, that choice paid off for her on Friday as Alonso became FSW's first four-year signee, inking with NAIA top 10 squad Central Methodist University. 
  • Bucs' International Student-Athletes Face Tough Decisions in Wake of COVID-19 Pandemic

    Of the 75 athletes that originate from outside of the United States between Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida Southwestern State College, a good amount are stuck in Fort Myers in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
  • NJCAA Cancels Remainder of 2020 Winter & Spring Sport Seasons

    After careful thought and consideration, the NJCAA has decided to cancel the rest of the 2020 Athletics season due to the rapidly changing situation concerning COVID-19. The cancellation effects the Florida SouthWestern State Men’s & Women’s Basketball teams as well as the Bucs’ Baseball and Softball squads. 
  • FCSAA Suspends All Competitions Through March 28th
    March 12, 2020
    Due to the continued concern of COVID-19 the the FCSAA has suspended all competitions, effective immediately, through March 28th.   At that time, the organization's Council of Presidents will reaccess the situation and determine whether they feel competition between teams is safe once again.
  • Bucs Inaugural Volleyball Team Sets Academic Bar High

    In their first semester in program history, the Florida SouthWestern State Volleyball team has set their academic standards high, as the Buccaneers’ inaugural squad achieved a 3.35 team GPA for the Fall 2019 semester, leading the way in the FSW Athletic Department and putting themselves in position for AVCA Academic honors after the Spring semester. 
  • Bucs Finish 4th at FCSAA State Tournament

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers saw their inaugural 2019 season come to a close this weekend, but not before making some noise and finishing fourth at the FCSAA State Tournament in Jacksonville. After splitting a pair of matches on the opening day of the eight team tournament, the Bucs pulled off the upset of the weekend with a 3-2 win over #14 Central Florida on Saturday before falling for the second time in as many days to #13 Hillsborough to draw their first campaign to an end. 
  • FSW Earns First State Tournament Win in Program History

    In a whirlwind 24 hour stretch for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, they went from thinking that their season was over to earning their first FCSAA State Tournament victory after knocking off Florida State College at Jacksonville 3-1 in an elimination contest Friday night in Jacksonville.
  • Bucs Headed to State Tournament, Play Friday in Jacksonville

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers skipped the trick and got a treat on Halloween 2019 as late Thursday, the Bucs learned that due to an NJCAA ruling, they would be replacing St. Petersburg at the FCSAA State Tournament with their first game coming Friday afternoon at 1 PM in Jacksonville against Daytona State.  
  • League High Five Bucs Named All-Suncoast Conference

    With Suncoast Conference action in the rearview mirror and the postseason ahead of them, a league high five Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were honored with All-Conference selections on Wednesday as Julia de Sa and Anna Leweling were named 1st Team All-Conference picks, while Marina Alonso, Amanda Mendes, and Viktoria Ivanova were tabbed 2nd Team All-Conference choices. 
  • Bucs Sweep Regular Season Finale, Await At-Large Call

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers closed out their first regular season in program history in style on Tuesday in Suncoast Credit Union Arena, sweeping State College of Florida 3-0 for their fifth win in their past six matches.  The Bucs now await a decision from the state’s volleyball committee as to whether they have done enough to earn one of the two at-large bids for the State Tournament, or if Tuesday was the final time they would take the court in 2019.
  • FSW Earns First Votes Towards NJCAA Top 20 Poll

    In a season of historic firsts, the Florida SouthWestern State Volleyball team added another accomplishment to the list on Monday as they picked up their first vote for the NJCAA Top 20 Poll, making them one of six teams not in the top 20, but ‘receiving votes’ this week. 
  • Bucs Fight, But Fall On the Road to #15 Hillsborough

    A young Florida SouthWestern State squad went on the road into a tough environment Thursday in Tampa and battled #15 Hillsborough tooth and nail, but in the end came up just short in a 3-1 loss to the Hawks to snap a four game win streak.

    On the heels of a 3-0 week, Florida SouthWestern State setter Marina Alonso has been named the FCSAA Setter of the Week, the second straight week a Buc has won a weekly award in the NJCAA’s top region.

    It was another historic night for the Florida SouthWestern State Volleyball program Tuesday night as the Buccaneers went on the road and earned their first win over a top 10 ranked opponent in program history as they controlled the pace in a 3-1 victory against #9 St. Petersburg to improve to 12-6 on the year.
  • Mendes/De Sa Lead Bucs to Third Straight Win

    Amanda Mendes recorded her first career double-double and Julia de Sa hammered home a game high 17 kills as the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers rolled past the visiting Palm Beach State Panthers 3-1 Saturday afternoon at Suncoast Credit Union Arena.

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers used a well-rounded effort Friday night in Suncoast Credit Union Arena to sweep the visiting Indian River Pioneers 3-0 and earn a key late season victory in their push for their first postseason berth.

    For the first time in program history, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers have an FCSAA Player of the Week as Tuesday, freshman Viktoria Ivanova was named the state’s Defensive Player of the Week following a standout performance against #10 Hillsborough. 
  • Mendes/Leweling's Big Nights Not Enough For Bucs Against 10th Ranked Hawks

    If you just looked at Amanda Mendes and Anna Leweling’s final stat lines from Florida SouthWestern’s Suncoast Conference match Thursday at home against #10 Hillsborough, you would think that the Bucs would have had a pretty good chance to win.  After all, the two freshmen combined for 28 kills and a .350 hitting percentage in just three sets against the Lady Hawks.  Unfortunately, the rest of the FSW hitters combined for only 13 kills and a .041 hitting mark as the Bucs dropped a pair of sets 25-23 and the other 25-20 to drop to 8-6 overall and 0-2 to start their first Suncoast Conference campaign. 
  • Titans Ruin Bucs Suncoast Debut

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were hoping that Tuesday was going to be a night to remember as they took on #17 St. Petersburg in their inaugural Suncoast Conference match. Unfortunately, it was quite the opposite as the Bucs were swept off the floor 3-0 by the Titans, dropping them to 8-5 on the year.
