Bucs Up Two in National Rankings

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers moved up two spots in this week's NJCAAA National Rankings, climbing from #20 to #18 in week 12 following a pair of Southern Conference victories.

The Bucs are 19-4 on the year after road wins at Miami Dade and Santa Fe last week. Wednesday FSW dominated the Sharks in Miami, leading wire to wire in a 75-54 thumping to remain perfect in Southern Conference play at 6-0.  Saturday they jumped out of conference for an 81-64 win over Santa Fe, again controlling the tempo of the contest for the final 35 minutes in route to the victory.

Three Rivers and Shelton State remained the top two teams in the poll this week with Georgia Highlands sliding up a spot to #3 and Western Nebraska and Wabash Valley entering the top five for the first time this season.  The Bucs were one of six Florida squads in the poll, joined by Northwest Florida at #6, Chipola at #10, Eastern Florida at #17, Gulf Coast State at #22, and Pensacola at #24.

The Bucs have the week off before taking the floor again at home on Saturday when they host Hillsborough in a 2 PM tip from Suncoast Arena.  A win would seal up the #1 seed in the Southern Conference for the upcoming Region VIII playoffs.
