Williams Named Player of the Year, Leads Five Bucs On All-Conference Team
FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Southern Conference Champion Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were well represented on this season's All-Conference Team as freshman Patience Williams was named the conference's Player of the Year and four other players earned honors as released by the league this week.

Williams was named the Southern Conference Player of the Year in her first season in Fort Myers and rightfully so.  She led the conference in both points with 16.3 and rebounds with 12.1 per game during conference play this year.  She had a pair of 30 point games in conference action, going for 32 against Palm Beach and 31 against Indian River, while pulling down 18 rebounds for monster double-doubles in both of those contests.

Williams is the fourth straight Buccaneer to win a Conference Player of the Year award joining Tina Stephens (2018 & 2019) and Za'Nautiaca Downs (2020).

Joining her on the 1st Team was Sheslanie Laureano who earns that honor for the second straight season.  Laureano finished second to Williams in scoring in conference action, pouring in 15.8 points per game. As good as she was offensively, she was even better on the defensive end, far and away leading the league in steals per game during conference play with 4.3 per game and also ranking third in blocks per set with 1.3.

Three Bucs earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors, led by Ronaltha Marc.  Marc started all nine conference games for the Bucs, averaging 8.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest.  She had a pair of double figure scoring efforts, going for 15 against Miami Dade and 14 against Palm Beach State early in the conference season.

The Bucs second 2nd Teamer was Tyshonne Tollie who like Marc, started all nine league games for FSW.  She averaged 5.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in league play, scoring in double figures twice.  She tied her career high with 12 points in the Bucs final conference game of the season against Miami Dade and dropped in 10 in her first career Southern Conference game in the Bucs league opener against Palm Beach.

Tashun Bryson joined the two on the 2nd Team, averaging 6.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in conference play which ranked second on the team to Williams.  She turned it on offensively at the end of the season, scoring in double figures in two of the Bucs final three conference games with 10 against Palm Beach and 11 against Miami Dade.  Also doing work on the boards, she had 10 rebounds in earlier games against the Sharks and Panthers.

The Bucs will be back in action next Wednesday at 9 PM (ET) when they begin their run at the FCSAA State Tournament by taking on Gulf Coast State in the first round in Niceville.
