White Signs With Young Harris

FORT MYERS, Fla.- All five Florida SouthWestern State Women's Basketball sophomores have found their homes as Wednesday, Buccaneer forward Niaya White signed her National Letter of Intent with Young Harris College in Georgia making the Bucs five for five in placing their 2019 sophomores at the next level.

White played in 29 games for the Suncoast Conference Champion Bucs in 2018-19, averaging 2.4 points and 2.2 rebounds per game after transferring to FSW from NCAA Division I Hampton where she played her freshman season.  She scored a career high eight points twice this season including against Indian River in mid-December when she went 4-5 from the field to help the Bucs to victory.  White also tallied a career high seven boards in the FSW win against Pioneers, later equaling that mark in a conference contest against Hillsborough late in the year.

White will play her first year at Young Harris alongside first year Head Coach Lindsey Huffman who took the reins of the Mountain Lion program in April.  Young Harris, who competes at the NCAA Division II level, struggled to a 6-22 mark last season, going just 4-18 in their 22 Peach Belt Conference contests.

With White's signing, all five FSW sophomores and six Bucs overall have now inked at the next level.  White joins Tina Stephens (Kansas), Tonysha Curry (Stetson), Shondell Vickers (Georgia Southern), Taylor Williams (Christian Brothers), and Janira Collier (Dillard) who have signed to continue their careers at four year schools.
