Sauerwein is back for his second season with the Bucs in 2022-2023. 

In his first season on the Bucs bench, FSW won the NJCAA National Championship, their second straight, while finishing with a record of 56-6.  The Bucs squeaked out five one run wins at the National Tournament, including four in elimination games to hoist the trophy in Yuma.  Sauerwein watched as four Bucs were named All-Americans including ace Baylee Haggard who was a 1st Team selection.  

Prior to joining the Bucs, he spent four seasons at Ave Maria where he worked with the Gyrenes' pitchers and served as Ave Maria's strength and conditioning coach. 

Sauerwein started his career an assistant coach at Missouri Baptist where he helped the Spartans to 80 wins in three seasons.
