GREENWOOD, Ind.- Florida SouthWestern sophomore Skylar Brennan put a bow on top of her incredible Buccaneer career on Tuesday as she earned the ultimate honors for a collegiate student-athlete by being named a 2025 CSC 1st Team Academic All-American.
On the field Brennan was a force for the Citrus Conference and FCSAA Champions. She earned 1st Team NJCAA All-American honors, leading the Bucs with a .448 batting average while smacking 22 doubles which ranked 2nd in FSW single season history. She was a run producing machine, accounting for 125 on the season with 74 scored and 51 driven in in 63 games played. She came up huge when the Bucs needed her most this season, earning MVP honors at the FCSAA Championships with a five RBI game in FSW's Championship Game win over Chipola while also being named to the NJCAA World Series All-Tournament Team with 10 hits and 10 RBIs in six World Series games. She also earned NFCA Gold Glove honors, going errorless in 63 games for FSW in right field this season.
In the classroom Brennan graduated with her Associate of Arts with a 3.56 GPA from FSW as she continues to pursue a Biology degree. She was a two time NJCAA All-Academic Team and FCSAA Academic All-State selection and was one of three Bucs Softball players to earn CSC Academic All-District honors this season.
Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators, Academic All-America is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges and Canadian institutions.
Brennan was chosen as one of just 13 1st Team Academic All-Americans Nationwide across all two-year sports. Also earning the honors was FSW Volleyball player Julija Grubisic Cabo, making the Bucs one of just three schools in the country to have multiple players chosen to the team.
She joins an exclusive club that includes former CSC Academic All-Americans such as Peyton Manning, Patrick Mahomes, Caitlin Clark, Buster Posey, Candace Parker, Katie Ledecky, and Drew Brees.
Brennan is just the fourth player in FSW Softball history to earn the award and the first since the 2022 season.
