FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern pitching factory is sending another ace onto the NCAA Division I level as Bucs sophomore righthander Leah Meyer will be headed to Abilene Christian University next season.
Meyer was a 2nd Team NJCAA All-American this season for the Bucs, going 19-1 with a 1.94 ERA in a team high 137 1/3 innings pitched. She pitched in 34 games for the Bucs, starting 28 and throwing 14 complete games. Her .950 winning percentage was the best in the NJCAA Division I ranks while her 118 strikeouts were a team best in 2025. Meyer took the ball whenever needed the past two seasons, throwing out of the bullpen in all three games of the Bucs run to the FCSAA Championship while drawing two starts and pitching in relief twice during the 2025 NJCAA World Series. She finished her Buccaneer career with 69 appearances in the circle, ranking 2nd in program history.
In Meyer's two seasons in Fort Myers the Bucs compiled a 113-17 overall record with two Conference Championships, an FCSAA Championship, and two Top 10 finishes at the NJCAA World Series.
Meyer will look to bring her winning ways to the Lone Star State where Abilene Christian sputtered to a 15-38 record a season ago. The Wildcats did fare a little bit better in WAC action, going 11-13, good for a 5th place finish.
Meyer is one of five Bucs to sign at the Division I level and one of six overall to sign to move on, joining Emilly Allegood (Campbell), Virginia Mambelli (South Alabama), Kmari Williams (FGCU), Nicole Edmiaston (Stetson), and Faith Wharton (Eckerd).
