LOUISVILLE, Ky.- A pair of Florida SouthWestern sophomores were honored by the NFCA on Monday as outfielder Skylar Brennan and pitcher Leah Meyer joined the list of Buccaneer legends by earning 1st Team All-American honors.
Brennan had a big sophomore campaign for the Bucs, leading FSW with a .448 batting average while roping 22 doubles, which is second most in a single season in Buccaneer history, and accounting for 125 runs in 63 games with 74 scored and 51 knocked in. She came up huge in the postseason for the Bucs, earning MVP honors at the FCSAA Championships with a five RBI game in FSW's Championship Game win over Chipola while also being named to the NJCAA World Series All-Tournament Team with 10 hits and 10 RBIs in six World Series games. She also earned NFCA Gold Glove honors, going errorless in 63 games for FSW in right field this season.
Meyer was a workhorse for the Bucs, toeing the rubber 34 times including 28 starts. She finished the year 19-1 in the circle with a pair of saves while posting a 1.94 ERA in a team high 137 1/3 innings pitched. She had better than a 2 to 1 strikeout to walk ratio with 118 punchouts and just 54 walks on the year. Opposing hitters managed just a .193 average against her this season while her 1.11 WHIP was best on the Bucs staff.
Paris and McLennan led the way with three 1st Team All-American picks each while FSW and Northwest Florida, the two teams to play for the 2025 National Championship had two apiece.
It is the seventh straight season the Bucs have had multiple NFCA All-Americans and the second time in the past three seasons they have had at least two 1st Team selections.
