Den Duijn Earns CoSIDA Academic All-America® Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind.- Florida SouthWestern sophomore Sterre den Duijn finished off one heck of a trifecta on Wednesday as after earning 1st Team All-Conference accolades and winning her second straight NJCAA National Championship on the diamond, the Bucs third baseman was honored with sports' ultimate achievement by being named a CoSIDA Academic All-American®, one of just nine two-year student-athletes across all sports to earn the award.

Den Duijn played in 61 games for the NJCAA National Champs this season, hitting .343 with 8 home runs and 62 RBIs, both of which ranked second on the team.  She was a 1st Team All-Suncoast Conference selection, accounting for 49 runs in just 20 conference games with a team high 32 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

Den Duijn was equally as accomplished in the classroom for the Bucs over the past two years, posting a 3.81 GPA as a Nursing Major. She was a two-time Suncoast Conference and FCSAA All-Academic Team member and in 2022 was named an NJCAA All-Academic 2nd Team selection.

Before winning her second National Championship, den Duijn was a Spring graduate of FSW and will continue her athletic and academic career next year at Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee.

In 2021 nearly 14,000 student-athletes across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, as well as NAIA, and two-year schools were nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® program.  The CoSIDA College Division Academic All-America® award honors the top student-athletes from two-year, Canadian and non-NCAA or NAIA colleges and universities.  Den Duijn was one of just nine female student-athletes across all sports to earn the College Division award this year.  She was joined on the team by FSW Volleyball player Fiona Baker.

With den Duijn's selection, the FSW Softball program has now had a CoSIDA Academic All-American® in each of the past three years, as she joins Owen Bowers (2020 & 2021) and Alyssa O'Donnell (2021).
