Four Bucs Named to NFCA All-South Region Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- Coming off of their second straight NJCAA National Championship, four Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers have been named to the NFCA All-South Region Team released on Monday.  Staff ace Baylee Haggard, Feline Poot, Charlotte Drijvers, and Laura Vigna were all picked as 1st Team selections for the Bucs, making FSW the only team in the South Region with four 1st Team picks. 

Haggard had a huge year in the circle for the Bucs, finishing the season with a 25-2 record in 30 appearances, chalking up a 1.40 ERA in 140 innings pitched.  Her 25 wins ranked 5th in the NJCAA this season while her 1.40 ERA was 9th among pitchers who threw at least 100 innings in 2022. 

Poot makes her second straight appearance on the NFCA All-South Region squad after hitting .433 and posting a 1.257 OPS this season.  She banged out 17 doubles and hit 14 home runs to lead the team while driving in 73 runs which ranked in the top 20 nationally. 

Drijvers joined her countrywoman Poot on the 1st Team, hitting .427 with 15 doubles and 41 RBIs on the season while also turning in a .967 fielding percentage in a team high 273 chances. 

Vigna is the lone FSW freshman to make the squad after hitting .454 with a team high 24 doubles and 73 runs scored on the season.  Her 24 doubles ranked 12th nationally while her 73 runs scored put her in the top 15. 

The quartet will now be considered for All-American honors which will be announced on Friday.
