Bowers Earns Second Straight CoSIDA Academic All-American® Award

AUSTIN, Texas- Owen Bowers continues to etch her name in the history books as one year after becoming Florida SouthWestern's first CoSIDA Academic All-American® in school history, she was once again named to the Academic All-American® Team in 2020-2021 making her the first junior college student-athlete in history to earn the award in back to back years.

A Pre-Med Major, Bowers was the epitome of a student-athlete at Florida SouthWestern the past three years.  She posted a 3.94 cumulative GPA as a Pre-Med Major at FSW to be named one of just five two-year student-athletes across the country to be named to the Academic All-American®  Team in 2020-2021. She will attend and play at Presbyterian College next season.

Bowers put up incredible numbers at the plate during her FSW career, ranking in the top 10 all-time in five different major categories including doubles (29) and RBIs (123) where she ranks second in program history. She finishes her Buccaneer stint with a .413 career batting average, 29 doubles, 19 home runs, and 123 RBIs in 127 career games played.  This season she earned her second straight FCSAA 1st Team All-State award while also collecting All-Suncoast Conference honors for the second straight year, hitting .427 with 29 RBIs and 27 runs scored. Bowers earned All-Tournament Team honors at the NJCAA National Tournament while helping lead FSW to their first National Championship in program history in 2021, hitting .600 with seven RBIs in the Bucs five games in the desert.

The CoSIDA College Division Academic All-America® Team is made up of student-athletes across the country from two-year institutions and any four-year institutions not affiliated with the NCAA or NAIA.  The team is comprised of just five student-athletes that are voted on by CoSIDA members based on both their academic and athletic merit.

Bowers was joined on the 2020-2021 Academic All-America® Team by teammate Alyssa O'Donnell who was named the 2020-2021 College Division Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year.

Florida SouthWestern was the only school in the country this year to have multiple players named to the Women's All-America® Team.
