Plummer Inks With Liberty

FORT MYERS, Fla.- All season long, Janessa Plummer was red hot for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers during their run to a 2021 NJCAA National Championship. Now, she will join a team known for their fire, as she has signed to play for the ASUN Champion Liberty Lady Flames next season.

Plummer had a breakout year for the Bucs in 2021, finishing 4th in the NJCAA with a .543 batting average in 48 contests.  She was named a 1st Team NFCA All-American and a 2nd Team NJCAA All-American this season, hitting in 38 of 48 games and picking up 21 multi-hit games on the season.  She was electric in the postseason for the Bucs, hitting in all 10 games while hitting .600 and scoring seven runs during their NJCAA National Championship run to earn Most Valuable Player honors at the tournament.  Plummer finishes her two year career at FSW with a .506 batting average which is second best in school history, while reaching base at a .563 clip and going 23 for 26 in stolen base attempts.

Liberty was 44-15 this season, capturing their first ASUN Conference Championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament where they earned victories over Eastern Kentucky and #9 Tennessee before seeing their season come to an end at the hands of tournament Cinderella James Madison. At Liberty, Plummer will play for one of the most decorated softball players in the history of the game in two time Olympic gold medalist and four time All-American Dot Richardson.  With Richardson at the helm, the Lady Flames have been one of just a handful of teams in the Division I ranks to win at least 40 games the past four full seasons, going 179-75 during the stretch.

Plummer becomes the fourth NCAA Division I signee off the Bucs 2021 roster, joining Rebeca Laudino (Louisiana-Lafayette), Owen Bowers (Presbyterian), and Alyssa O'Donnell (Long Island).
