Iamurri Adds Two Assistants to Fill Staff

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern State Head Softball Coach Robert Iamurri has completed his coaching staff for the 2019-20 season, adding former Georgia Southern standout AJ Hamilton and bringing back FSW All-American Marta Fuentes to join him in the dugout this year as assistant coaches.

Hamilton joins the Bucs after serving as the On Field Director for Softball Factory for the past five years.  In her role with Softball Factory, Hamilton organized a number of different areas including scouting and evaluating, planning and implementation, and facility oversight.  On the coaching front, Hamilton has an equally diverse resume including work with the USA Women's National Baseball Team.

As a player, Hamilton played at Georgia Southern University where she was a team captain during her senior season.  She played in 227 games for the Eagles during her career, seventh most in program history.  Her 24 career home runs are also seventh best for the Eagles.

Hamilton also starred on the USA Women's National Baseball Team from 2016-2018.

Fuentes returns to Fort Myers after spending two standout seasons at George Washington University.  In 2019 Fuentes led the Colonials to their first Atlantic-10 title in program history, hitting .333 in 47 games and leading the conference with 25 stolen bases.  As a junior, Fuentes set program records with 49 runs scored and 32 stolen bases while tying the club mark for hits in a year with 65.

At FSW, Fuentes led the Bucs to a pair of trips to the NJCAA National Tournament, leaving as FSW's all-time leader in hits, runs, doubles, stolen bases, and batting average. She was a 2nd Team NJCAA All-American as a sophomore for the Bucs, piling up 99 hits and scoring 67 runs while stealing 59 bases which ranked third in the country.

The Bucs will look to build on a 54-3 year from 2019 in which they were the #1 ranked team in the country for all six weeks of the regular season.

FSW continues their fall season with a date against Florida Gulf Coast University on Thursday and open their 2020 spring season January 29th at the Clearwater Kick Off.
