Campbell to Reunite With Marshall at Samford

FORT MYERS, Fla.- This Spring, Florida SouthWestern State fans latched onto the Drake Bulldogs, plum full of former Buccaneer athletes and coaches.  Next year, they will have another Bulldogs squad to cheer for as sophomore guard Jaden Campbell signed with Samford University on Wednesday where he will reunite with former FSW star Jermaine Marshall for the 2021-2022 season.

After biding his time behind a pair of All-Conference guards as a freshman, Campbell came into his own this season, averaging 13.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per game for the 18-5 Buccaneers.  He shot 52% from the field on the year and made the most of his trips to the line, hitting 78% from the stripe on the season. He was a 1st Team All-Southern Conference selection, scoring in double figures 17 times on the season, including five games topping the 20 point mark.  The turning point for Campbell came in the Bucs' fifth game of the season when he scored a then career high 16 points against Central Pointe.  He would go on to up that career best mark  in each of the next three games, ultimately topping out with a 24 point game on 10 of 12 shooting against Miami Dade.

Campbell will join a Samford squad looking to get things rolling back in the right direction after a 6-13 campaign this season.  The Bulldogs struggled to get in a rhythm in 2021, having eight games canceled while posting a 2-9 mark in Southern Conference action.

Campbell is the third Buc to sign an NCAA Division I NLI off of their 2020-2021 squad joining fellow guards Kario Oquendo (Georgia) and Terry Roberts (Bradley).  He is the 12th Division I signee for the Bucs over the past two seasons.
