Oquendo Signs at Georgia

FORT MYERS, Fla.- After one season in the Purple and Aqua, Florida SouthWestern State freshman Kario Oquendo will be headed to the Peach State after signing with the University of Georgia last week.

Oquendo was a 1st Team All-Conference selection for the Bucs this season, averaging 13.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game while shooting a blistering 55% from the field and 40% from three point land.  He played in all 23 FSW games this season, drawing 10 starts, and averaging just over 22 minutes per game.  Oquendo scored in double figures 18 different times including three 20+ point efforts, and scored a career high 31 on 10 of 14 shooting against #16 Indian River.

Oquendo will head to a Bulldog program coming off of a 14-12 season and a 7-11 mark in SEC play.  Georgia qualified for the conference tournament where they fell to Missouri in a three point contest in the first round.

Oquendo is the second FSW player this season to sign an NCAA Division I Letter of Intent, joining backcourt mate Terry Roberts who will be headed to Bradley next season.  He marks the 11th Division I signee for the Bucs over the past two seasons and the 16th for Head Coach Eric Murphy since taking over in 2018.
