CHARLOTTE, N.C.- A season ago, Florida SouthWestern State's Keon Ellis contributed to the Buccaneers as a reserve, playing behind future Division I stars Charles Manning Jr. and Maddox Daniels.  In 2019-2020, it was Ellis' time to shine and he did just that and Monday, he was rewarded for his efforts as he was named a Second Team NJCAA All-American.

Ellis was ranked as high as the #3 junior college prospect in the country this season after averaging 18.1 points per game for the 29-2 Buccaneers who finished the season ranked #1 in the NJCAA.  He did it efficiently too, shooting a smooth 54% from the field, ranking seventh in the country among players averaging at least 18 points per game on the year.  From December 1st to February 5th, Ellis recorded 16 straight games of 10 or more points and 50% or better shooting from the field, a stretch in which fSW went a perfect 16-0.  Ellis' efficiencies didn't stop there as he shot an even 40% from the three point line and 81% from the free throw line on the year, both putting him in the top 15 in the state during his sophomore season. Also a wizard on the defensive end, Ellis averaged 2.1 steals and 1.2 blocks per game on the year, making him just one of four players nationally to average 2 or more steals and 1 or more blocks per game on the season.

Ellis' name is etched all over the Bucs' all-time record books after this season as his 562 points and 64 steals in 2019-2020 are the most in a single season in school history while also ranking in the top 10 in career points, field goals made, field goal percentage, three pointers made, three point percentage, free throws made, free throws attempted, blocked shots, and steals where is FSW's all-time leader with 114.

Ellis' success wasn't just personal though, as he led the Buccaneers to a 59-5 record over the past two seasons, helping FSW to back to back undefeated Suncoast Conference Championships and two berths in the NJCAA National Tournament.

FSW has now had an NJCAA All-American in three straight seasons with Tremell Murphy earning the honors in 2018, Charles Manning Jr. last season, and Ellis in 2020.

Ellis recently committed to the University of Alabama to continue his career and will sign on National Signing Day, April 15th to join the Tide for the next two seasons.
