Bucs Remain On the Doorstep of Top Spot in Week Nine

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers continued to knock on the door of the top spot in the NJCAA Poll in week nine, settling for the #2 spot for the second straight week.

The Bucs remained in the top five for the fifth straight week, this week at #2 as they continued to ride a now, 14 game win streak with two more victories last week.  FSW hardly blinked last week, picking up a pair of good wins, first downing State College of Florida 96-69 at home Wednesday night, followed by a 94-79 road win over Polk State on Saturday to improve to 21-1 overall and 4-0 in Suncoast Conference action.  The Bucs have continued to get it done on both sides of the ball, having scored 89 or more points in seven straight games and holding their opponents under 80 in 14 straight.

There was quite a bit of movement in the poll this week as FSW, #1 Ranger, and #14 Central Florida were the only three teams to hold their spot in the top 25.  Pearl River, Tyler, and Vincennes jumped up to join the Bucs and Rangers in the top five this week.  Casper was the biggest faller this week as they dropped from #16 to #24 while John A. Logan jumped all the way from outside the top 25 to #19 this week.

The 21-1 Bucs return to the floor on Wednesday in a road matchup at St. Petersburg before returning home on Saturday to take on Hillsborough in a 2 PM afternoon tussle.
