  • FSW Top 10 Moments of 2019-20; #3- Ellis Lights Up St. Pete For School Record 41

    As a freshman, Florida SouthWestern's Keon Ellis had to bide his time, playing behind First Team All-Conference guards and eventual Power 5 signees in Charles Manning Jr. and Maddox Daniels.  His role changed significantly as a sophomore as he stepped into the limelight of being the Bucs' bonafide star and it was never more evident than in FSW's Suncoast Conference opener in 2020 when he brought us our #3 moment on our countdown of the Top 10 Moments in FSW Athletics in 2019-20, his record breaking 41 point performance against St. Petersburg. 
  • FSW Top 10 Moments of 2019-20; #6- Bucs Roll Through Third Straight Undefeated Conference Season

    There have been two things that FSW fans could count during the Spring for the past three years.  One, unfortunately was their yearly tax bill being due in April, the second, is a little more positive, and it is our #6 moment on our countdown of the top moments of the 2019-20 FSW Athletics Year, the Bucs going undefeated in Suncoast Conference play for the third straight season. 
  • NJCAA/FCSAA Approve Return to Play Plan For 2020-2021

    After a series of one after another bad news reports regarding COVID-19 ended their 2019-2020 athletics year in March, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers got some good news on Thursday as the FCSAA Council of Presidents approved the NJCAA and the FCSAA AD’s plans to play the 2020-2021 seasons as planned, beginning in August. 
  • Florida SouthWestern Men's Basketball Team of the Decade- 2010s

    Today we look at part three of our four part series on the Florida SouthWestern State Teams of the Decade, focusing today on the Bucs' Men's Basketball program.  The FSW Men's Basketball program has been nothing short of dominant in their brief history, going 115-15 overall and 46-2 in Suncoast Conference play in their four seasons, including three straight Conference Championships and three straight trips to the NJCAA National Tournament.  
  • Suncoast Credit Union Arena Voted NJCAA's Best

    While there was no bracket play going on at the NJCAA National Tournament this spring, there were matchups being played out and coming down to the closing minutes in the T3 Bracketology Top Arena Poll. At the end, there was just one left standing and that was Suncoast Credit Union Arena, home of the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers.  The Bucs' home digs brought home the title of the NJCAA's top arena with a 59% to 41% victory over Northwest Florida State's Raider Arena in the all Florida final. 
  • Finch Signs at Jacksonville State, Makes Eight Division I Signees For Bucs

    The eighth and final Florida SouthWestern State sophomore signed his National Letter of Intent on Monday as point guard Jalen Finch inked with Jacksonville State, giving the Bucs 2020 class a perfect eight for eight moving on to the NCAA Division I level. 
  • Bucs Basketball Bids Farewell to Suncoast Conference, Headed to Southern

    The Florida SouthWestern State Men's and Women's Basketball teams will not have the opportunity to continue their reign over the Suncoast Conference next season as the conference will be no longer, with news that FSW will head across Alligator Alley to the Southern Conference next season with State College of Florida joining them on the men's side and Hillsborough, St. Petersburg, Eastern Florida (Women), and Polk State (Men) jumping to the Mid-Florida Conference for the 2020-2021 season.

    Florida SouthWestern State sophomore De'Lazarus Keys is heading from one side of the Gulf to the other as the 6'8 big man has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Texas A&M- Corpus Christi for the next two seasons.

    Florida SouthWestern State big man Sebastian Guitian will be headed to the NCAA Division I level next season after signing with South Carolina State on National Signing Day Wednesday.  
  • Marshall Signs With MAC Champs Akron

    When the Florida SouthWestern Men's Basketball staff recruited Jermaine Marshall last year, the plan was clear, come play for the Bucs for a season and move on to the Division I level.  That plan was executed this season and finished on National Signing Day Wednesday as Marshall signed with MAC Champs Akron where he will have three years to play starting this fall.

    Florida SouthWestern State guard Berrick JeanLouis has decided on his post-FSW home, signing with Hall of Famer Rick Pitino and the Iona Gaels on National Signing Day Wednesday.
  • Ellis Rolling with the Tide

    After spending the season as one of the most highly sought after junior college players in the country, Florida SouthWestern State sophomore Keon Ellis has officially signed his National Letter of Intent with the Alabama Crimson Tide.  Ellis inked with the Tide Wednesday on National Signing Day, making him the fourth Buccaneer Men's Basketball player in the past two seasons to sign with a Power 5 squad and the third to sign to play in the SEC. 
  • Keon Ellis Named Second Team NJCAA All-American

    A season ago, Florida SouthWestern State’s Keon Ellis contributed to the Buccaneers as a reserve, playing behind future Division I stars Charles Manning Jr. and Maddox Daniels.  In 2019-2020, it was Ellis’ time to shine and he did just that and Monday, he was rewarded for his efforts as he was named a Second Team NJCAA All-American. 
  • FSW Puts Together Another Record Breaking Campaign

    The Florida SouthWestern State Men's Basketball team saw their season come to a premature end this year because of COVID-19, but it wasn't before they were able to put together a number of record breaking performances.  The Bucs won their third straight Suncoast Conference Championship and went 29-1 in the regular season while spending the final six weeks of the year as the #1 ranked team in the NJCAA. 
  • Bucs' International Student-Athletes Face Tough Decisions in Wake of COVID-19 Pandemic

    Of the 75 athletes that originate from outside of the United States between Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida Southwestern State College, a good amount are stuck in Fort Myers in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
  • Ellis Earns All State Honors

    After leading the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers to a 29-2 record and a #1 National Ranking for the final six weeks of the season, FSW sophomore guard Keon Ellis has been named an All-State selection by the FCSAA.  
  • NJCAA Cancels Remainder of 2020 Winter & Spring Sport Seasons

    After careful thought and consideration, the NJCAA has decided to cancel the rest of the 2020 Athletics season due to the rapidly changing situation concerning COVID-19. The cancellation effects the Florida SouthWestern State Men’s & Women’s Basketball teams as well as the Bucs’ Baseball and Softball squads. 
  • FCSAA Suspends All Competitions Through March 28th
    March 12, 2020
    Due to the continued concern of COVID-19 the the FCSAA has suspended all competitions, effective immediately, through March 28th.   At that time, the organization's Council of Presidents will reaccess the situation and determine whether they feel competition between teams is safe once again.
  • April Madness? NJCAA Basketball National Tournaments Postponed Due to COVID-19

    Just three days before the scheduled start of the 2020 NJCAA National Basketball Tournaments, the NJCAA has announced that the tournaments will be postponed due to ongoing concerns about COVID-19.  The tournaments will attempt to be played beginning April 20th in Hutchinson, Kansas (Men's) and Lubbock, Texas (Women's). 
  • Bucs Draw 6 Seed For National Tournament, Headed to Hutch For Third Straight Year

    Florida SouthWestern State has only had a Men’s Basketball program for four seasons.  Monday, the Buccaneers learned that for the third time in those four seasons, they would be headed back to the NJCAA National Tournament as in the organization’s Selection Show, FSW was named as the #6 seed for next week’s tournament, drawing a first round bye before taking on the winner of the Colby/Monroe first round game, in the second round Wednesday, March 18th  at 9 PM (EST).
  • Bucs Stunned in Region VIII Quarters

    The #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were stunned in the quarterfinal round of the NJCAA Region VIII Tournament on Wednesday, scoring a season low 68 points and shooting under 40% from the field for just the second time all season in a 75-68 defeat at the hands of Gulf Coast State.  FSW's fate will now be in the hands of the NJCAA's at-large committee which will be announced Monday at 1 PM.  
  • FCSAA State Tournament On Tap For FSW Basketball Teams

    The Florida SouthWestern State Basketball teams have arrived in Niceville and are set for the 2020 FCSAA State Tournament which begins Wednesday, March 4th for the FSW Men and Thursday, March 5th for the Buccaneer Women.  
  • Bucs Head to Postseason Ranked #1 in National Poll

    For the second consecutive season, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers will head into postseason play as the #1 ranked team in the country after the NJCAA released their final 2020 poll on Monday, ranking the Bucs the nation's top team for the fifth straight week.  
  • Suncoast All-Conference Teams Packed With Eight Bucs

    After completing their third straight undefeated Suncoast Conference season, the league’s All-Conference teams were expectedly loaded with Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers when released on Thursday. Eight Bucs were named All-Conference including FSW’s third straight conference Player of the Year, Keon Ellis, while Head Coach Eric Murphy was named the conference’s Coach of the Year for the second straight season. 
  • Four Straight Weeks at #1 For FSW Men

    For the second straight season, the Florida SouthWestern State Men’s Basketball team closed the regular season as the top ranked team in the country as the Bucs remained #1 on Monday for the fourth straight week as announce by the NJCAA National Office. 
  • FSW Completes Third Straight Undefeated Conference Season

    For the third straight year, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers are the undisputed champions of the Suncoast Conference as the #1 ranked Bucs led wire to wire against Polk State Saturday afternoon en route to an 81-69 victory to end the regular season with a perfect 12-0 conference mark for the third consecutive season.
  • Bucs Grind Out Sophomore Night Win Over Manatees

    The #1 Florida SouthWestern State Men's Basketball team hasn't been challenged much during their 20 game win streak heading into Wednesday night's Suncoast Conference battle with State College of Florida.  They were Wednesday and survived a small scare, outlasting the Manatees 76-69 to sweep the season series on Sophomore Night in front of a good crowd at Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
