Barnes Signs at Jacksonville

FORT MYERS, FLA.- After a First Team All-Conference season in his only year in Fort Myers, Florida SouthWestern State guard Destin Barnes has signed a Division I Letter of Intent to play at Jacksonville University next season.

Barnes was a 1st Team All-Suncoast Conference selection this season, averaging 8.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game for the Bucs.  He played in all 33 games for FSW, starting 32 of them, while shooting 39% from the three point line.  He came up big down the stretch for the Bucs, scoring in double figures in 9 of FSW's final 12 games during their run to a Suncoast Conference Championship and ultimately a 5th place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament.

He will join a veteran Jacksonville squad next season as the Dolphins lose just one player to graduation this year.  JU was 12-20 overall and 5-11 in ASUN play where they lost five games by five or less points this season.

With Barnes' signing, FSW now has five players signed at the Division I level for next season- Charles Manning (LSU), Maddox Daniels (Colorado), DeShawn Thomas (Winthrop), Tyler Morman (Wyoming), and Barnes (Jacksonville).
